Harvesters District Service Day

On October 3rd, our district met for a district wide service project in Kansas City. We helped fill bags for the BackSnack Program at Harvesters. We made over 2500 BackSnack bags that will be sent home with children so that they may have nutritious food over the weekend. The BackSnack program serves 13,000 children every week. Not only did we help fill bags, but we also toured the building. It is truly incredible what Harvesters is doing for the area and truly generous of the companies, restaurants, stores, manufacturers, and everyday people that are helping to supply the food. One of the stories our H
arvesters Ambassador told us was that Fruit Loops made a large batch missing one color of the loops. Harvesters received tons of boxes of Fruit Loops instead of it going to waste. The most amazing statistic that he shared with us however, is that Harvesters uses 97% of money raised to directly benefit the hungry. Thanks for all that you do for the hungry, Harvesters!

Traffic on I70 was so bad, we took a little detour to get home. We snapped this pic out the window on the beautiful day-we should have gotten out and walked, we might have gotten home faster. We are glad all of you that had to travel farther made it back safe and sound! Thanks for serving with us!

Friends of the Library Book Sale

At the beginning of October, KU Mortar Board helped the Friends of the Library with their annual book sale. We helped set up the INCREDIBLE number of books, CDs, DVDs, VHS, and audio books. Thank you to the Friends of the Library and all of the amazing Lawrence donors for promoting literacy! If you would like more information about the Friends of the Library, please click here.
